This is not goodbye…
As I mentioned previously, I have moved to Maryland to be near my daughter and granddaughter. During the latter part of 2022, I shared the duties of President of the Impact100 Board with Stephanie Shaw and our incoming President, Jane Durkin. I owe them many thanks for taking on extra work to their already full plates with Membership and Grants!
And now that we have welcomed 2023, Jane will officially take over the President role as I step down from the Board after 6+ years. Even though I will no longer be on the Board, I remain a steadfast member and supporter of our East Bay chapter. As a 38-year resident of Oakland, I still care deeply about the East Bay. Unfortunately, so many residents still need assistance with a myriad of challenging issues. They turn to the nonprofit heroes in Alameda and Contra Costa counties for help. We can all be proud that our grants over the last 6 years to those nonprofit organizations have had a profound positive impact for so many.
Wasn’t it just a moment ago that I joined our founder, Nancy Clark, in her living room to learn about the Impact100 model? It was an easy “YES” when asked do we want to start a chapter in the East Bay? It has been my pleasure to serve you all as a member of the Board in a variety of capacities since 2016. While I will miss my ability to interact with the Chapter’s activities and members in person, I’ve committed to my fellow Board members that I am ready to provide as much support as I can from a distance and I will definitely continue my membership!
I read somewhere that you only say goodbye to people you are never going to see again. So, let’s consider this instead “see you later”!
My best wishes,
Carol Nitz, Outgoing President
Hello and welcome to our 7th grant award year at Impact 100 East Bay!
First and foremost, I thank Carol for all her leadership and dedication to Impact EB. Her creativity, hard work and boundless energy over the past 6+ years are the foundation to our chapter successes and pave the way for our future grant award impact. Well done and it has truly been a pleasure to have you “On Board” – literally!! You leave very big shoes to fill.
I also thank our fabulous Board members for all the work they put in every year to keep our 100% volunteer organization running smoothly – I look forward to working with you this coming year!
I have been on the Board as the Co-Chair of the Grants Committee for 4 years. During these years, I continue to be astounded both at the need in our local community, and the women of Impact 100 East Bay who collectively work to fill those needs. We should all be very proud of our impact on our neighbors in Alameda and Contra Costa County and the legacy we are leaving.
My last message for all members – get involved with us – a little or a lot!
We are a zero-overhead organization – every membership dollar you donate goes directly to our Grant Awards. This only happens because of our collective “sweat equity”….and the old adage is true – many hands make light work!!
Volunteer sign-ups will be held at the end of our Big Reveal Meeting on February 21. Come join us, find out the size of our 2023 Grant(s?) and get to know the amazing women of Impact 100 East Bay!
Jane Durkin, Incoming President
